Christmas with Funkshun at Ige's Restaurant & 19th Puka (12-7-2012)
Ho, Ho, Ho! Our first Christmas dance party of the year! With a tall Santa wearing rubber slippahs and his funky elves all dressed in teal and black, and wearing fedora hats! The stage was decked out with twinkling Christmas lights and snowflakes - very festive! It's a good thing we arrived early at Ige's Restaurant & 19th Puka. The house was packed with Hawaii '74, Pearl City '80 and Aiea '79 alumna celebrating. This swarm caused the dance floor to be smaller than usual. Nevertheless, dancers made do with whatever floor space was afforded to them. Evening activities included a secret Santa grab bag, tons of door prizes, a chocolate Santa candy eating contest, and Santa doing the Gang-ham Style dance (~hey, sexy lady, wop, wop, wop, wop, oppa gagnamstyle!~) We scored one of Mona Fukumoto's goodie baskets for our grab bag. Yum! (for a complete menu email monafukumoto@gmail.com). There was even a special appearance on stage by Devin "Ducky" Nakasone, and Shar Aoki. Mahalo Suzi for getting us seats near the stage.
